Clerestory roof 65-ft passenger cars
OLD-TIME WOODEN KITS Our line of urethane kits is just the thing you need:
our kits offer you GREAT detail at reasonable prices! All kits are easy to put
together, too!
We're offering cast resin 65-ft. passenger car kits including a baggage car,
Railway Post Office (RPO) car, a coach and combine. These simulated
wood-sheathed cars typified the open platform cars of the Boston and Maine and
the vestibuled equipment of the New Haven Railroad, and they typify car
building practice of the first decade of the present century. Used in mainline
service until the advent of the heavyweight steel cars of the 1920's, they were
eventually regulated to branchline service where they remained through the end
of World War II. The B&M continued to use the cars, in fact, in the
mid-1950's. Some may still serve as tool and bunk cars in work trains. The cars
came with or without truss rods.
The cars were equipped with Westinghouse type "PM" brakes, steam
heat and were originally gas lighted; they were later electrified. The New
Haven used generators and batteries under each car; the B&M used a steam
generator on the loco with jumper wires between cars at roof level.
These kits are fairly easy to put together, consisting of resin sides,
roofs, ends and floors. Price: $53.95 each, less trucks and couplers.
